During the time of post-Civil War Tennessee the East Tennesee and Western North Carolina Railroad was known locally as Eat Taters and Wear No Clothes railroad. A narrow-gauge operation this ran for 60 years until highways and rain damage brought it to an end. Resurrected in 1956 this has become North Carolina's favorite travel attraction.
